Centerline Biomedical, Inc.

Centerline Biomedical, Inc. is a Cleveland Clinic spinout company marketing and developing the Intra-Operative Positioning System technology. Dubbed IOPS, it is a novel system incorporating image processing, mathematical structural modeling, electromagnetic tracking, and 3D computer graphics to change the way minimally-invasive vascular procedures are done. The current gold standard for these types of procedures, in which catheters, wires, balloons, and stents are used to repair blood vessels, relies on two-dimensional fluoroscopy — an X-ray-based technology — for image guidance. Fluoroscopy carries risks related to radiation exposure and yields images that can be difficult to interpret. IOPS addresses these pain points to provide physicians with an intuitive three-dimensional “GPS for the body.”

Matthew Holladay, Director of Software and Engineering
Matt is a twenty-year veteran in medical device software with special expertise in medical imaging, image processing, and image guidance. Prior to his leadership at Centerline, he developed image processing and analysis software for imaging modalities spanning ultrasound, SPECT, PET, CT, and MRI. At Centerline he leads the team of software engineers while also embodying what it is to be in a startup company as he drives forward the company’s multidisciplinary research programs, works on post-market surveillance, helps maintain the quality management system, and supports customers.

Joshua Galecki, Software Engineer
Joshua brings the perfect set of skills to advance Centerline’s 3D surgical image guidance technology. He has over ten years of experience developing visual interfaces and intuitive user experiences in video games, as well as advancing the field through research in computer vision, artificial intelligence, and simulation. Moreover, he is a registered nurse with clinical training and four years of experience which he brings to his role developing Centerline’s novel medical technology.

Vikash Goel, Founder and CTO
An engineer-turned-researcher-turned entrepreneur, Vikash has sixteen years of experience in medical device software and hardware design and executive leadership. He spent ten years deeply immersed in Cleveland Clinic’s Heart and Vascular Institute developing novel technologies for minimally-invasive vascular surgery. Working closely with surgeons, he worked with a team of high-level engineers to understand clinical challenges and unmet needs, leading to the invention of the IOPS technology. In order to commercialize his invention, Vikash transitioned out of Cleveland Clinic to launch Centerline Biomedical as a startup company.
