IPS Cleveland is one of many IPS North American Service Centers offering local, regional and national coverage, all backed by a single Quality Management System, Health Safety & Environmental program, Continuous Improvement culture and Customer Service that offers an Unmatched Customer Experience (UCE).
IPS Cleveland provides service for:
- industrial AC & DC electric motors, generators and
- mechanical power transmission equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, fans, compressors, shafts.
The facility’s capabilities include:
- in-shop repair with dedicated winding clean room for foreign material exclusion (FME)
- field services
- distribution and storage of critical assets.
IPS serves all industrial applications including: nuclear & fossil power plants, hydro generators, turbine generators, steel mills, refineries, pipelines, chemical plants, cement plants, paper mills, mining and manufacturing facilities.

PRESENTATION:
The tours will consist of no more than 15 people per tour to encourage questions and dialog.
Tour will cover motor/generator receipt, inspection, and repair processes. The attendees will walk through the plant observing different repair and rewinding activities including the inspection of IPS Cleveland facility’s capabilities such as:
- 70+ ton lifting capability
- 10′ VPI tank with 100% solids epoxy
- VPI rewind to 15 kV & 5-year warranty
- Dynamic balancing up to 25,000 lbs.
- Test panel to 13,800 VAC / 1,000 VDC
The attendees can engage in Q&A discussion during the course of the tour while observing the actual repair and rewinding in process.
The Speaker: Mr. David Hinchliffe P.E. has been the Senior Electrical Engineer for IPS Cleveland since 2014. David oversees electrical failure investigations, repair and testing. He is also the Electrical Insulation Engineer for the development and maintenance of the IPS proprietary insulation systems.
From 2004 to 2014, David worked for Exelon Generation in progressively advancing roles at Oyster Creek Nuclear Generating plant. Starting as an Electrical Component Specialist and advancing to System Manager. He oversaw maintenance and quality issues of electrical motors based on predictive maintenance technologies, vibration monitoring, thermography, lube oil analysis, motor design analysis, protective device assessment and motor load effects. He also held the position of Electric Motor Corporate Subject Matter Expert and the Large Power Transformer Subject Matter Expert.
From 2002 until 2004, David worked for STV Incorporated in Philadelphia as a Vehicle Specialist, performing qualification testing on electric locomotives prototype propulsion testing on new diesel-electric locomotives for NJ Transit in Tarbes, FR and Valencia, ES.
David graduated in 2002 from Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA with a BS in Electrical Engineering and is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
